Experience in the English subject

Hi bloggers: Today I will talk about one of my subjects: English. I have to say that this subject isn’t so difficult to me because I had pretty good teachers at school. That’s the reason why I only have to do two semesters of English.  About the use of blogs it was a complete new experience, because I don’t use to write about myself, it’s kind of difficult to me but I like to do it anyway. About the subject, in general, I enjoyed from the beginning.

The first part was with another teacher, she was pretty demanding and I like that but what I like the most was that I had the classes in the morning. In other hand, this semester I had all classes in afternoons so I was very tired or boring. I hate classes in spring’s afternoon because of the heat.  Even though, teacher was pretty cool, she makes me do activities, videos and blogs. And one time we all put our chairs in a circle and practice English together. I think that oral practice is an important aspect of English and I feel like never is enough.

Outside the English class I try to practice almost every day but in my way, like watching videos of my favorite music without lyrics and trying to understand all the words. Also, I talk to my sister or help her with her homework to practice the basic things. I hope in the future my siblings will be better than me.

By the way, this is my last blog so we don’t go to read us next week…

Changes to my study programme

Hi bloggers:

Today I’ll talk about some changes that I think will be good about my career. To start, in Forestry we have a lot of trainee practice, specifically in summer,  which is right but I think that some things could be better because students are much more than teachers so only a few learn all. Also, when we do some writing activities in forests we don’t have enough time to finish them appropriately, but what I think could be more enriching is that teachers give us a detailed correction of this activities not just the note.

About the curriculum and classes I’d like to have a subject about native mushrooms or ferns, because we only learn this in trainee practices. Also, I’d like to have fewer hours in math or statistic and much more in flowers and plants. Not just electives.

The faculty facilities are just a few and we don’t have enough classrooms and we need them because more and more people study the career every year.  But all of us enjoy green areas. About teachers, mostly are good teachings but a few don’t have enough patience.

About length of studies I’d like it to be less years because five years are a lot of time and we have a lot of unnecessary electives. In Forestry we use technology in just a few subjects like English or Statistic but in home we need computers or something like that to do homework.  I hope we could do this thing better in future.

That’s all,

HERBARIUM

Hi bloggers:  Today I’ll talk about my experience making the herbarium. It was last year and with my friends started it very early so we have a lot of time to collect our samples. The objective was search 30 samples, 20 native and 10 exotic.

Our first adventure was to “Aguas de Ramón” located between “Las Condes” and “La Reina” there we collected a lot of samples and stayed all day, we lunched next to a river and it was a great experience to me. Also we traveled to “Canelillo” beach where a little forest is and we find some plants that we didn’t know, we spend all day in the beach playing and sharing stories.

I visit other places too because I want to have unusual samples, so I visit “Panul” hill, “Cajón del Maipo” and also collected some plants near to my home or when I visited my family in V region.
It took me 4 months to collect and dry all my samples but the ugly part is when you have to sew up all the plant to a cardboard and make a card where you have to write the place where you pick this, coordinates and other things. Sincerely, I enjoy make this work so much because it makes me learn more about plants but also I spend time with beautiful people who are my friends.

My future job

Hi blogger
Today I’m  going to talk about future, especifically, my future job.
This is a difficult question in this part of my life  because I feel a little lost and unmotivated. The reason could be that world is not what I think and I’m losing my faith in humanity.
I started to study Forestry because I wanted to be a specialist who has power to say yes or no in environmental problems and step by step make a better world. But I feel like nobody else cares that.

So, my plan for future is go to south of Chile, make a little camping next to a river, with cabins and paths where I could be an ecotourism guide.  I would like to have a big forest and every years plant more native trees and live there a few years. Doing some investigations too, working in a university or something like that.

Then, I’d like to work in national parks in Chile but then I’d like to travel around the world to know every different ecosystem. Since I was a child I dream about travel and live in every country in America, every island and others countries that call my attention.  But knowing myself I think that I’m going to want to come back to home someday…

That's all, read you next week!

Traditions in our Independence day celebration

Hi bloggers:
Today I’m going to tell you about how I celebrated Independence Day.
Every year I visited my maternal grandmother who lives in Bollenar with her two sisters, we made “Empanadas” and then we wait for our guests from Rancagua, the other part of my family, and celebration starts. We eat all together in a big table and you have all types of salad and meat (I don´t really like it so they cook rise for me and my siblings) and then we dessert a “Macedonia”. Also, there’s a lot of soda, juices and “Terremotos” for adults.
After that, we play many games, like “Rayuela”, Musical Chair, Whipping top or sack races. Always is someone who falls and we all laugh, we record almost every moment because we love make memories of everything. Every reunion left many pictures and in the afternoon, we meet to see them with a projector.
When the day in about to end, my uncles put traditional music like “Cueca” or “Cumbia” and we dance all night long.  This year, we were almost 45 people (we have to put 3 big tables) and we spent a great time together. I love this kind of family reunions because I think that we don’t know when someone is going to die or get sick so we must enjoy together as much as we can.
That’s all,

I hope you celebration was great too…

MY FAVOURITE FOOD

Hi bloggers:
Today I'm going to talk about my favorite food. In general I don’t eat too much junk food, one of the reasons is because I don’t eat meat, eggs, cheese, milk or butter but also I prefer homemade food even better when my mom or my grandma cooks form me. So, I have a strict vegetarian diet which is considerate eat very healthy.
About salty or sweet food I prefer eat a salty and tasty lunch and then a sweet dessert like a cake or fruits because I can choose one of them.  Is very difficult to me make a decision about what is my favorite dish because I have two options. One of them is lentils, I love eat this when is cold or raining served with a piece of bread and salad of tomato. The other option is pasta with Bolognese sauce but I change it a little bit because I replace  meat with soy meat or mushrooms. I love cook this for my family on Sundays and they enjoyed it so much. Sincerely, I learned to cook when I was very young because I have 3 little siblings and luckily they don’t like meat. So, they enjoy very much what I cook.
That's all, read you next week...

My favorite girl

Hi bloggers:
This time I'm going to talk about my pet.

Our story started in September, 2010. I was in my house with a friend when we heard a sad meow but it sounded very far so we started to look for the cat. After a couple of minutes, we found a 1 month old cat in poor conditions. She was weakened, malnourished and smaller than my hand so we took her and ran to buy her some milk. Then we came back to my house but we were so nervous because my mom doesn’t let me have pets, so when she came home I hid the cat in my closet but it didn't help because she scared and started to meow. Finally, my mom founded her and I told her the complete story. I think it touched her heart because she let me keep her.

That day, with my friend named her Bu, because she is so adorable like the Monsters Inc’s character. Since that day I love her and I took care of her buying her food, playing together, taking care when she gets sick and sleeping together. She is my inseparable company and I know she is grateful.

Blogging experience

Hi bloggers:

This is one of my last posts, this time I'll tell you about my blogging experience.
So, since  we start I was so ashamed to write in English because I use to think that mistakes are embarrassing, but writing my posts I realize that even when we are wrong we are learning and this is such a good tool. I had so much fun with each topic, I learn many new words and now I feel more comfortable about new languages. Actually I like to learn Portuguese now.

I think that speak English it’s an important issue in our field, even more if you like to work abroad. Because of that I started to teach myself English since my lasts years at school and I was lucky to had a great teacher, so this year I was so nervous about English class and the result was that I forgot to set the alarm so I fell asleep and arrived at university late.

Finally, we never talk about why we are interested in learning English, I mean, why is important for us, what we expect and when we realize that it’s an important thing. I like to do it.

That’s all,
Read you next time!

My favorite subject

Hi bloggers!

Today I’ll tell you about my semester.
To start I should say that last year was very tiring for me because I must travel about 5 hours daily between university and home. So, this year I need to reduce my course load and because of that I enjoyed all my subjects (they are 4). But my favorite one was “Products and services of forests” because in this subject I learn what kind of things can give us forests but also, how forest influence people’s life. The teacher makes me realize that we use forests daily in many ways even when we live in cities, they can give us food, clean up our air, timber, recreation areas and sense of belonging.

In this subject, we have theoretical classes most part of the time but practical activities too in the university facilities. Its contents are divided in two parts, the first one is about forest’s products and was the easiest. The second one is about forest’s services by Dr. Claudia Cerda, who teach us to see the global image in environmental issues and I like that.

That's all
I hope that next semester will be easy to us...

An expert of Forestry

Hi bloggers: Today I'll tell you about a person that I admire.

Bernardo Zentilli studied Forestry from 1954 to 1959 at "Universidad de Chile" when only timber production was important. A few years later he started to work in national parks in the south of Chile but he had to leave our country.
Since 1975 he started to work in protected wildlife areas in places like Switzerland, Rome, Kenia, Belize and Paraguay; also, he contributed in projects of CONAF, FAO, ONU, UICN and PNUMA being an expert of his area. Then 27 years later he came back to Chile and became in president of CODEFF. For 5 years, he represented Chile around the world in many conferences about environment.
Last year, we meet in Santiago and he told me about his life. It was a motivating meeting because he loves his job and always try to do the best. Also, he told me about biodiversity and how he has been trying to protect it his all life. I think he was a visionary for his time.

That’s all,

I hope you like it…

MY IDEAL VACATIONS

Hi bloggers!

Some posts ago I wrote about my last vacations but today my topic will be what is an ideal vacation to me.
At present, if vacations were just a few months before I would like to celebrate my birthday in a beach, could be in Chile or not but it's like a dream because I don't used to make big parties. I prefer small celebrations with my family and close friends.
Also, in my life, I hadn’t much vacations so every new place is an adventure to me. But my favorite places are beach surrounded of forests like “Canelillo” beach. Because of this, I think my ideal vacation could be camping about a week in a forest near to a beach so in afternoons I could walk through the seashore without shoes and feel the sand and water. An important part of my travels are my family, my boyfriend and my cat because when I travel alone I miss them all the time or I feel sad. I think everything is better if you are sharing it with a person that you love.
That’s all,
I hope you like it J

A PHOTOGRAPH I LIKE

Hi bloggers!
Today I`m going to show you one of my favourite photographs:

This picture shows the beauty of the south of Chile, actually it was taken in Frutillar by myself, that's the reason why you`re looking at Osorno volcano. Besides, this photograph means a lot for me because it has my best memories with the best company.
About 2 years  ago, when I finally finished school, my boyfriend invited me on vacations with him and his family. I accepted because it would be my first vacations out of Santiago.
We spend almost 1 weeks going all over Chiloé, it's a charming place. Then we traveled to Puerto Montt but it wasn't what we expect and we only had lunch and left that place. But when we arrived in Frutillar, it was a magical thing because the lake was huge, Osorno volcano was snowed and you can find chocolate everywhere. We spend 4 days in that place and every afternoon we ate cheseecake, ice cream or kuchen at the shore of the lake.
Since that moment Frutillar became my favourite place.

That's all, see you soon.

MY VACATIONS

Last summer I decided to go on an adventure; my boyfriend and my friends shared with me this travel to "Los Lagos" region.

We started in Frutillar, where we finished the Summer Practice of Forestry, but I´m only going to tell you about my favourite places in this trip.
So we moved to east to a place called "Ensenada": it was a camping site in the middle of a myrtle forest, full of birds and cats, I was amazed.
Then we visited a place called "Toboganes de la Junta" in Cochamó, it took us 6 hours to reached the top, but it was the most beautiful place that I ever seen because it was a natural "toboggan" made of stone with turquoise water and surrounded of native forest.
Finally, near to "Chaitén" we went to a place called " The Yellow" in Pumalin park, where we reached a huge glacier after 4 hours of trekking. I hadn´t seen anything like that before.

That´s all,
I hope you like it...

My favourite piece of technology

Hi bloggers:
Today I`m gonna tell you about my favourite technological object: Apple TV.
This little thing can do almost anything, you connect this to the smart TV and you can listen to music on ITunes, watch videos on Youtube, see films on Netflix. But it only works with internet (WiFi). So, Internet is an essential thing too because the Apple TV is just a tool for accessing to many functions.
My dad brought us this thing to home about 3 years ago, we use it a lot because  I watch a movie with my sisters or my brother listen his electronic music almost everyday.
Personally, I dont like technology that much because I used to think that technology took families apart, but now I have to admit that this thing makes me change my mind and I`m learning more and more about what I can do with the technology by my side.

Nowadays, my family and I watch a movie almost every weekend sharing with tasty food and that brings us a little time of hapiness together.
My life without an Apple TV would be a little different because many family moments could be lost, but I probably spend my free time in a different way like reading books for example.

That`s all,
make you questions...

Why did I choose my career?

Hi bloggers!:
I would like to tell you about why I choose my career and what I expect for future.
Well, when I was on my last year at school I was clear about my aspirations so I started to search careers for a long time. After the university selection test; I went to an university fair where after many hours speaking with students I rejected many careers. I was tired and ready to go home but next to the exit I saw a Forestry stand. Finally, I was clear about my decision.
In 2016, I started to study Forestry at "Universidad de Chile" and nowdays I´m on my second year.
At  present, I can´t stop thinking about how my life would chance in future, I only expect work in national parks around the world, taking care of animals, studing the forests, fighting the bad habits to our planet, and finally make a better world for everyone.

So, that´s all,
I hope read you soon...
